Becoming a Certified Trainer

If you want to change the world, focus on leaders.
If you want to change leaders, focus on them when they’re young.
Becoming A Certified Trainer
The most important thing I see developing in these kids is that they’re teachable. They’re hungry and thirsty to learn how to be great leaders. These kids are critical thinkers, not just repeating answers, but forming credible ideas and strategies to change the world. We are creating dynamic innovators. –Patricia Smith, KidLead Trainer (first row middle in photo)
This was the best 1-day training I've ever received. -Gabe Guven, Elementary School Principal, San Jose, CA
The effectiveness of LeadNow is based on three fundamentals:
· 1. Curriculum designed with active learning methods and content that focuses on leadership character and competencies
· 2. Kids with leadership aptitude who are working together in teams, interacting with and learning from each other
· 3. Certified Trainers who both love and relate to 10-13 year olds as well as understanding leadership. (If you're interested in training teen leaders using LeadWell curriculum, we want you too!)
If you fit the latter, we’d like you to consider being a part of the KidLead revolution, to develop leaders when they’re moldable. Only certified trainers are licensed to use the LeadNow curriculum developed by KidLead. Certification involves four steps:
· Step One: Submit and application that includes references, allows for a background check, and a video/DVD sample of you presenting. This will be followed by a phone interview if an onsite meeting is not convenient. (Applications below.) Upon acceptance, you'll submit a signed pre-agreement and a $200 deposit to reserve your place and so you can receive your training materials.
· Step Two: Pre-workshop reading from the training module, familiarity with the KidLead website content and SIS assessment, 1/2 hour training DVD, and reading the text: "KidLeading: Growing Great Leaders." This is done on your own.
· Step Three: A 10-hour live training intensive that includes 3 hours of on-the-job training with preteens in a mini-camp.
· Step Four: Leading or co-leading 1 module. Our philosophy is "learn by doing" so we want to be sure that you know what it is like to lead your own club. After successful completiong of this, you will be fully certified and receive the remaining curriculum. Follow up coaching, periodic tele-training, support, along with monitoring LeadNow/LeadWell parent feedback, ensures that ongoing quality is maintained and provides helpful input for improvement.
As a certified Trainer, yo can choose to donate your time or generate revenue for parttime income. You can set fees as fits your market area. We'll assist you in determining these, but consider what parents pay for mid-range sports programs in your community. A set resource fee per participant for each module returns to KidLead Inc. for North American clubs, allowing you to keep the rest. We’ll also provide ideas for you to raise local monies for this cause along with letters that interested applicants can use to develop their individual sponsorship support. Our long term goal includes a foundation to develop scholarships for deserving trainers and students.
From a trainer's perspective, I think the interactive leadership activities really allow the kids to focus on the concepts they're learning. They go away excited about what they just learned and experienced. -
