An Audacious Dream of Transforming an Entire Community into a Young Leader Development Culture

Throughout history, tribal councils have sought to identify and develop their future chiefs and leaders. Although KidLead's work is global, we are headquartered in the beautiful Monterey Peninsula of California (Pebble Beach, Carmel-By-The-Sea, Clint Eastwood, Leon Panetta, Monterey Aquarium, Naval Postgraduate School, John Steinbeck, Cannery Row, Big Sur, Laguna Seca) and not far from Salinas, known as the Salad Bowl of America, because so much of our nation's produce is grown there. Our vision is to create a regional network of schools, civic groups, and generational leaders, focused on identifying, developing, and empowering young leaders. This project is named:
LeadYoung Institute of Monterey.
We are now in the process of systematically contacting every elementary, middle, and high school (public and private), to help them create a concentrated leadership training program, using LeadYoung's training curricula. At a miniumum, we want them to identify their young leaders so we can invite them to others' training programs. We're also working with the local community colleges, university, and graduate school, to create collegiate training programs and mentoring opportunities. We will then network local and national leaders living in the area, for opportunities to interact with our young leaders.

We hope to obtain local, regional and even national funding, to research how the intentional identification, development and empowering of young leaders, those with an aptitude for social influence, can transform a community. We appreciate any connections for this type of sponsorship and are open to those interested in conducting research around this experiment.
Eventually, we plan to sponsor summer young leader training events, where people can come for both a vacation and experiential training events for all ages. Stay tuned as we attempt to do what no community has done before on this scale.
If not you, who? If not now, when? -Hillel
